Biography:

Natalie's research explores how species interact and coexist across space and time. Before joining Griffith, she was a postdoc at The University of Queensland and The University of California San Diego. She is originally from Canada; she completed her PhD at the University of Toronto looking at shifts in plankton communities across a latitudinal gradient.

Project:

Aster recently completed an ambitious honours project in the lab looking at adaptive bet-hedging in dormant floodplain zooplankton communities. We are thrilled that they are staying in the group to complete their PhD. Aster is pivoting to researching the ecology of the endangered southern pink underwing moth and its host vine. Exciting things to come - watch this space!

Brady Pankhurst (he/him)

Honours student

Education:

BSc Environmental Science, Ecology and Conservation, Griffith University

Project:

After completing an excellent capstone research project and WIL placement we are very happy that Brady is continuing in the lab for his honours research. For his honours he is conducting experiments to determine how cold plasma irradiation breaks seed dormancy in Australian native plants. He is co-advised by Nathan Garland and Maksym Rybachuk in physics.

Jessica Hogg (she/her)

Advanced studies student

3rd year Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours)

Project:

Jess has recently joined the group as an undergraduate researcher to complete a 2 trimester research project. She will focus on mapping the distribution of the endangered southern pink underwing moth, its larval host plant and associated abiotic variables using ArcGIS. Welcome to the team Jess!
